“You didn't do this to me”
It wasn’t perfect.
In fact, there was no way it could have been perfect. Her smiles began to infuriate him. Her laughter was aimed at him, or else why would she be laughing so hard, so loud. She was too good for him, or at least that’s what others seemed to be talking about.
There wasn’t any proof of that though. He reminded himself that this was probably just his self-doubt creeping up again, but what if it wasn’t? What if she had been talking about him behind his back? What if she was simply riding on his genius? What if she was the thing holding him back?
He could make it with out her. He had to.
…
All the love and happiness he had was left behind. He convinced that this was what he wanted, that it was the best course for him to reach the top.
The next day, the phone wouldn’t stop ringing. His big break had finally arrived, but he had no one to celebrate with.
“what i wanted”
LISTEN NOW! Ready for a funky time? “What I Wanted” is a letter to a lost love, one lost because you gave in to fear, outside pressure, or just self-sabotage and ended it. This is what you wanted, this is something YOU did. Does that make it okay? Maybe, maybe not. It does make for a wonderful song though!

“What I Wanted” Lyric Sheet. I didn’t even write the name on this one. It was an idea I had pretty quickly, jotted it down and recorded it in a matter of about an hour. Love how it came out!
Lyrics
Who's idea was this?
I bet it was it mine?
Another day, another broken heart
I guess I'll have another glass of wine
I only have myself blame
Nah... ‘Cause this is what I want
'Cause you're gone
And I'm left behind
Now's the time to say goodbye
And that's fine
That's fine
Cause this is what I wanted
Looking back at what we had
Bad blood boils to the point that it was bland
Nothing earth-shattering, Nothing Bright
Now that you're weighing me down
I can reach new heights
Do you remember
The time when I asked you if you loved me
You didn't respond
No wonder this is where we are
'Cause you're gone (You’re Gone)
But I left you, you didn't leave me behind
Now's the time to say goodbye (Bye-Bye)
And that's just fine
Cause this is what I wanted (this is what I wanted)
This is what I wanted (this is what I wanted)
You didn't do this to me (this was my idea)
This is what I wanted (this is what I wanted)
Right?
You'll never read this letter
Wouldn't give you the satisfaction
I burned everything that was yours
But that's better than inaction
'Cause you're gone (You’re Gone)
And now I'm leaving you behind
Now's the time to say goodbye (Bye-Bye)
And that's fine
Who's idea was this?
Oh yeah, it was mine
Cause this is what I wanted (this is what I wanted)
This is what I wanted (this is what I wanted)
You didn't do this to me (wouldn't give you the satisfaction)
This is what I wanted (this is what I wanted)
'Cause you're gone
Cause this is what I wanted (this is what I wanted)
And now I'm leaving you behind
This is what I wanted (this is what I wanted)
Now's the time to say goodbye
You didn't do this to me (this was my idea)
And that's fine
This is what I wanted (this is what I wanted)
WHERE IT BEGAN
Crazy enough, the first approach to “What I Wanted” was actually a love song called “Just the Start”. Same key, same music, but the two songs couldn’t be more different. This shows off Eloy’s ability to turn lyrics and moods on their heads, right?
